Colleen’s thoughts of the day

Rodin's 'Thinker"

Colleen’s & other thoughts of the day:

A moment of time in Misty Montville

Looking back 2017 was a fabulous bonus year for me with the help of a very good friend I achieved so much  for  a person with Parkinson’s disease to achieve the most amazing goals and improve the quality and quantity of life immeasurably.  Looking back on a year of amazing achievements and very full weeks starting Mondays with Sound therapy with Lynn, Tuesdays table tennis, Wednesday and Friday Tai Chi with Di and my beautiful Tai chi family. Thursday a very helpful group session called ‘Brainasize’ with Jodie and Kerrie giving miraculous recuperative energy to the brain and harmony to the body through drumming, ball games etc.  One of the best and most rejuvenating things were the  Ballroom Dancing lessons on Thursday evenings with Shirley and Paul as instructors.  The rhythm, music and remembrance of steps proving to be the best thing for one’s morale and sense of balance.  Then on Saturdays off to the local markets to stock up with nourishing organic fruit and vegetables and coffee and chat and comraderie with friends old and new. Then there were the stimulating Feldenkrais atm’s (Awareness  through movement) sessions at Woombye with Phil that were so beneficial and for which I was very grateful.  Swims in the ocean, meditation and pranic healing, and a couple of sessions singing in the Lift choir at Maleny also stirred the senses.  Which is all HEALING is about. So thank you to all involved for a year of motivation and sustenance and a promise of “2018 with lots of exciting adventures” God willing.

The climate and seasons have gone crazy. Time for all humankind to take a good hard look at  how we are not caring enough for our  beautiful planet. Capitalistic mining companies stop desecrating our atmosphere and scarring our earth. Stop deforestation right now.

I was  privileged to sing in Kim Kirkman’s Inspiration Choir at ‘Lift’ Maleny, it truly is a very uplifting experience to be part of and sense the harmonic vibrations. Remarkable. Practice for heaven’s choir.

Love is the single most powerful, inspirational thing in God’s universe

We all need a guardian angel to watch over us

I recently heard an amazing sermon by Revd. Harley Fihaki that brought God so close I could feel His presence in the vicinity.

“We have confirmation of the radical, unique fact that Jesus is God’s human face. Jesus God incarnate.

In Jesus God has revealed Himself to us in person.

The son that is Jesus is the image of the Invisible God”

Amazingly I tried with three different photos of the beautiful embroidery in 3 dimensions of Jesus ‘The Good Shepherd” but all would not upload properly, proving that you have to be worthy to see the face of Christ

Soul mates are the best mates.

The eyes are the window to the soul

The message of James Redfield’s “Celestine Prophecy” and its 10 Insights  is as relevant to me today as when I first read the book 20 Years ago.

First key Insight :  Recognizing and becoming conscious of coincidences that are not merely chance in our lives through Intuition and open-mindedness

Second key Insight: Recognizing the historical background to our awareness over two millenium’s of global transformation.  History is not the evolution of technology but of thought processes.

Other Insights:  Linking into Pure Energy fields.

This higher energy level and higher vibrating field, evolution has been going on throughout human history, and is why humans have grown in stature, live longer, improve, and grow.  This movement towards a world wide spiritual growth is mystical consciousness.

Mystical Consciousness can be obtained by total concentration.  It may be mere flashes or glimpses through our minds during the course of our lives, flashing into infinity.  This insight is into the other source – tapping into a cosmic source.  The universe can provide all we need if we open up our hearts and minds to this source.  We must give to this method of consciousness as well as seek to grow from its revelations, evolution of mind.

I enjoyed reading ‘The Mountain Shadow’ sequel to ‘Shantaram’ by Gregory David Roberts an Australian author.  Some standout meaningful sayings of the sage…….

EVERYTHING IS SPIRITUAL and everything is expressed in its own spiritual language.

GENEROSITY is the spiritual language of  LOVE

HUMILITY is the spiritual language of HONOUR

DEVOTION is the spiritual language of FAITH

TRUTH is the spiritual language of TRUST

IRONY is the spiritual language of COINCIDENCE

HUMOUR is the spiritual language of FREEDOM

SACRIFICE is the spiritual language of PENANCE

My epitaph is in the poem by C.P. Cavafy “THAKA”

(I don’t think it would fit on any head-stone! But every line is meaningful…………………)

“As you set out for Ithaka
hope the voyage is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians and Cyclops,
angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them:
you’ll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare excitement
stirs your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians and Cyclops,
wild Poseidon—you won’t encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.

Hope the voyage is a long one.
May there be many a summer morning when,
with what pleasure, what joy,
you come into harbors seen for the first time;
may you stop at Phoenician trading stations
to buy fine things,
mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
sensual perfume of every kind—
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
and may you visit many Egyptian cities
to gather stores of knowledge from their scholars.

Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you are destined for.
But do not hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so you are old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you have gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.

Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her you would not have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.

And if you find her poor, Ithaki won’t have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
you will have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.

The hierarchy of all things (to my mind)

Love is, what it is,

Love chooses, it does not wait to be chosen

Just be thankful for every day we have

If I should die this day or t’morrow,

Please let there be no morbid sorrow,

Because I have had just the best time,

And all my life is set to rhyme!

Why can’t everyone live in PEACE in our beautiful world?

Wouldn’t life be meaningless if God had not sent down the gift of the holy spirit to humankind on the first day of Pentecost.

I reason God is in all of us and every single thing  in creation and we are all part of the one same God.

God is love.

Love is patient, Love is kind

There is just not enough love in the world.

The simple answer to life is when Moses asked God ‘Who are you’, God answered simply “I AM”.

It is far better to give than to receive.

I  like old Conquistador saying “It is not life itself that matters, but the journey…”

Sometimes I look at what I have written and wonder to change anything, but then the verse from the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam comes to mind……”The moving finger writes; and having writ, Moves on:  nor all thy Piety nor Wit shall lure it back to cancel half a Line, Nor all thy Tears wash out a word of it.”

What a Blessed life one has had. Blessed in every possible way. “Thanks be to God”.

 You rise at dawn

New morning born,

Each tiny beam

From an evening dream

Heralding start of new day

With every tiny myriad ray.

Sending forth a lovely greeting

Just like old friends meeting.

I beg you to stay

For just one more hour each day.

Follow your heart and dreams and heed the messages life sends through sages along the way. Yes you, listen to the messages!

As another anniversary has passed, I marvel at how fast time flies – the older you get, the faster it goes.  So one must enjoy every day to its absolute fullest, from the time the sun comes up in the morning and until the moon sets at night. And give thanks to God and the Universe for giving us such a beautiful life, and beautiful family and friends.

How blessed one is to see different places on our beautiful planet.

Love is the strongest force in the world.

*God is in His heaven, and all is right with the world.

*Savor each day from the moment you wake up in the morning, until you close your eyes at night,  and appreciate every second of it. I worked out I have enjoyed about 261,700 days on this beautiful earth, which is about 6 million hours, or 37.6 million minutes, and I have enjoyed and I thank our generous God and Creator for every one of them.

Loyal friends are real treasures, believe me.

The best things in life are free.

*Life is wonderful, full of wonderful people, and full of wonderful things!

*”Remember to welcome strangers into your homes. There were some who did that, and welcomed angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2

(similar but older) than the inscription above the door at lovely old Shakespeare and Company’s Paris bookstore which reads “Be not inhospitable to strangers, Lest they be angels in disguise”.

Shakespeare and Company's delightful bookshop on the left bank of Paris. Love the sign over a doorway saying 'BE NOT UNHOSPITABLE TO STRANGERS, LEST THEY BE ANGELS IN DISGUISE'.

*If you want something done, ask a busy person, you know they will do it.

*I think ‘Six degrees of separation’ has diminished, somewhat with the introduction of social media to about 3 degrees. Through this medium I have found old friends from way back.

*Be happy”

*Shit happens”

*Do you ever wonder what you would do in heaven every day, if you get there?

*Have you ever wanted to have 48 hours in a day, simple just stay up for 24 hours, and just pretend you sleep for 24 hours. Works every time.

*Did you ever wonder how we survived without Google? (for my grand-mother it was “what did we do without plastic bags?”)

Food for thought on reading

SOCRATES – 469 – 399 BC Philosophy on goodness and morality (Later on after the birth of Christ became Christian values)  He was sentenced  to death for disrespect of the Gods who protected Athens from floods, storms and plague, and so would incite the wrath of the Gods if not punished.  HE BELIEVED LIFE WITHOUT PHILOSOPHY WAS MEANINGLESS.

PLATO- 427 – 347 BC he was 28 when Socrates died. HE WROTE ESSAYS TO FEATURE SOCRATES WORK ON A DAILY BASIS. Platonic love is a type of love that is chaste and non-sexual. The term is named after Plato, who philosophised about the nature of love

BECAUSE JESUS WAS BORN 400-300 years later – Led me to wonder had he heard of these Greek philosophers.  To my knowledge he never mentioned them in the new Testaments.  Jesus only spoke Aramaic but read Hebrew texts in the Temples.

The first 5 books of the old Testament were translated into Greek in 300 BC
